November 22, 2010: International expert workshop with focus on GHG emissions and carbon sequestration potential of organic farming systems in Rome

The third international expert workshop of the Round Table on Organic Agriculture and Climate Change (RTOACC, www.organicandclimate.org) will be held in Rome on November 22, 2010.

The focus of the workshop will be to finalize activities of 2010 and compilation of end reports on 1) GHG emissions and the carbon sequestration potential of organic crop and livestock systems 2) The climate change mitigation potential of organic farming systems and the development of a methodology for the carbon market 3) Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) - methods, models and databases with focus on GHG emission and sequestration potential of organic farming systems and organic food.

The first workshop of the Round Table on Organic Agriculture and Climate Change (RTOACC) took place in May 2010 at FiBL in Switzerland. The second workshop took place in October 2010 in Bari, Italy.

About RTOACC

The Round Table on Organic Agriculture and Climate Change RTOACC is a multi-stakeholder initiative. It was founded on December 16, 2009 in Copenhagen, at the United Nations Climate Change Conference. The activities are supported by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
